Design Presentation for "The Wishing Well"

I just showed my work to Jeff and Dela from ILM, along with the rest of my class, and I'm proud to now share it with you, the people. This project, called "The Wishing Well", was a challenge in designing characters, creatures, environments and "moments" that all fit into a cohesive universe.

My story took place in Sweden, high in the mountains, and portrayed a young boy named Yonders discovering an ancient, mysterious subterranean well. This well was inside the decayed, wooded body of a deity from Swedish mythology. Inside however, Yonders encounters a terrifying creature, and the rest is shrouded in mystery...

So while this is presented as a portfolio packet, it is still a work in progress, and I will return to it at a later time to polish it along with the rest of my future work.

Thanks, and I hope to get some more feedback!

The Bone-Pile Rises

Hey guys and gals, it's been a crazy couple of weeks. I've been painting every day non-stop, and I must be in some kind of slump because I haven't produced many finished pieces. On the other hand, I've had more ideas than I could handle, so I'm experiencing some difficulty in cleanly moving from one to another. But for those of you who value good ideas more than pretty little paintings, this post is for you.

BFA Environment week.

Project is a continuation of last week's ideas, involving the country of origin and environment development. Since I'm using Sweden, I was inspired by some of their folk lore to portray an old deity of theirs, in a state of petrification. The opening in its chest is a well, which the character I developed last week will find contains a sacred idol that can grant any wish.

Final Render

Sketchbook ideas, trying to achieve a feeling to run with.

Painting out ideas for my render, some of these will serve as material for next Friday's submission, where I'll set up some "moment" renders.

Rough submission for Friday, where I got most of my feedback for a revision. They asked me to improve my atmospheric perspective, as well as my detail distribution. A fellow classmate suggested using the space on the right more strategically, such as adding a knee above the water line.
